    Description
    This auction is for a “GREAT LAKES RECRUIT” magazine dated October 1918.  It is a pictorial naval magazine that has many pictures of training situations of the time - both sailors and marines.  There is also an article and many pictures of a visiting French marching band.  There are cartoons and humorous articles pertinent to the time and many advertisments including a full page ad highlighting the asbestos output of Johns-Manville “one hundred million pounds”,  motor cars, ever-ready safety razors, tire chains, etc.  The book is in good legible condition but the cover is detached.  It is from a non-smoking home.  A very interesting piece of history.
