Vintage WWI Trench Art Bell Gong 1914 German Karlsruhe Military Shell

Description

Offering this WWI era trench art bell/gong.  Made from an artillery shell.  Shell is marked "113 Aug 1914 Karlsruhe" and has a crown with a "KE" under it.  This is mounted on a piece of wood.  Has a post that is threaded.  This all screws together for storage. (see photo 1, 2&3)  To ring the bell you have to unscrew the bolt and take apart the unit. (photo 4).  Screw the nut onto the post. (photo 5).  Place the shell on the nut. (photo 6).  Grab the toggle on top and move back and forth and the bell rings. (photo 7).  At least that is how we figured it out.  This does not have any artist identification.  A neat old piece.
