Description
WW1 Era US Army Engineer Corps Command Unit Lapel Pin with Old Safety Pin Design.Army Corps of Engineer Corps pin. Has a C & U on the pin. I do not know for certain what this stands for. I have been informed by a former ACOE officer that this may be a "personalized' castle, where the letters/initials stand for the college or university where the officer was assigned as part of an ROTC unit/detachment there. These were not authorized by the Army but back pre WWII it was common for officers to wear customized jeweler-made insignia. It’s quite possible that is what this piece is.
I believe this is WWI-WWII era.
Measures 1.5” x .75”
There is wear to the finish but overall the pin is in very good condition for its age.
